Ensuing auto accident injures two and closes freeway.

A construction site crane fell into the northbound San Diego Freeway, I-405, triggering a collision between a big-rig and an SUV. The truck swerved to avoid the crane boom and collided with the SUV, resulting in minor injuries to the drivers of the vehicles, according to KGET.com.

The crane operator was pulled from the crane cab conscious and alert by firefighters, according to Brian Humphrey, a fire department spokesman.

The early afternoon traffic accident blocked traffic on the northbound side of Interstate 405 near the U-S 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles County, one of the busiest interchanges in the nation for nearly five hours.
