Two cars collided on Long Beach Boulevard this morning during the early morning commute. One car was exiting the Long Beach Freeway when it was hit by a car driving on Long Beach Boulevard around 8:15 a.m.

A man driving a white, four-door Honda was exiting the offramp to go on northbound Long Beach Boulevard when a woman driving a white Kia ran a red light and rammed her vehicle into the Honda's front passenger side, said Long Beach Firefighter Will Nash.

The Honda's damaged side was hit hard enough that the passenger side had caved in and would have injured a passenger, if there had been one, he continued.

Both drivers were driving solo, Nash said.

The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment. It is unknown what his injuries are. The woman only suffered minor injuries. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
