Volvo SUV lands on its roof.

The driver of a silver Volvo SUV lost control of his vehicle on the San Diego Freeway (405), went off the freeway, overturned and landed in a drainage ditch, Fire Capt. Mike Duree reported, according to the Long Beach Press Telegram. The apparent single vehicle auto accident occurred in the southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway near Redondo Avenue.

Rescue personal used the "Jaws of Life" to extricate the six people in the Volvo after cutting through a fence to get to the vehicle. Two passengers were in critical condition. All six passengers were transported to a local hospital.

It will be interesting to see how these passengers fared. Hopefully, their injuries are not serious.

If you are going to be in an auto accident, especially an SUV rollover accident, the later model XC90 Volvo is the one you want to be in. The Volvo XC90 SUV is one of the best built vehicles on the market for accident survivability. It is designed to withstand intrusions into the passenger compartment and its roof is one of the strongest of any SUV, in comparison to its weight.

We handle a great number of injury automobile accidents wherein the most serious injuries are due to a roof system failure (the roof crushes in on one or both front seat passengers). The news article did not mention which model Volvo SUV was involved.
