A 24-year-old man was killed on the Artesia (91) Freeway in Bellflower after he crashed into a stalled vehicle that was involved in a previous accident, said the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 4:29am on the westbound Freeway, just west of Downey Ave.

The driver, a man from Brea in a 1989 Vokswagen Jetta, was driving at "an unsafe speed" when he crashed into one of three vehicles that were stalled in the number one and carpool lanes, CHP statements said.

The man was transported to Long Beach Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A passenger in his car, suffered minor injjuries and was transported to Lakewood Regional Medical Center.
