Olive Recall Due to Food Poisoning Threat

Olives sold in Florida, Georgia, and New York were recalled due to potential contamination with clostridium botulinum. The bacteria can cause food poisoning.

Flora Foods, of Pompano Beach, has recalled its 25 ounce jars of "Cerignola Olives", because they could be contaminated with clostridium botulinum, which can cause potentially fatal form of food poisoning.

The recalled olives were distributed in retail stores in Florida, Georgia and upstate New York. According to a company statement, the product comes in a clear glass jar with LOT #G080 stamped on the label.

The company said Friday, no illnesses linked to the olives have been reported to date, but routine testing found the product had been underprocessed. It is not clear how many jars of olives might be affected.

Consumers that purchased the olives can return them to the store they bought them at for a full refund. You can contact the company if you have any questions.
