The Metro Rail commuter train hit an SUV on Friday April 13th. There were no injuries on the train. The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital for observation.

The accident occurred about 9:30 a.m. at Long Beach Boulevard and 7th Street.

"The driver of the SUV tried to make an illegal left turn onto oncoming traffic on a one-way street," said Will Nash, a Long Beach Fire Department spokesman.

"Unfortunately, the train was right there when he did it."

The train was coming from Los Angeles and traveling through Long Beach at the time of the accident. The train pushed the SUV down the tracks according to witnesses.
