Mystery Woman Hit by Blue Line Train in Long Beach

An unidentified woman is in a coma following an accident on March 21st with the Blue Line Train in Long Beach. Police believe she threw herself in front of the train as a suicide attempt. Her fingerprints and belongings yielded no identification of her name. She is being treated at the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.

She sustained massive internal injuries and had one leg severed when she was hit by the train and dragged some 40 feet near a platform at Spring Street and Pacific Avenue, police said.

Doctors were forced to amputate the other leg a few days after she was hospitalized.

Witnesses said she was standing next to the tracks before the train arrived, then threw herself on the tracks just at it approached.

The woman was dragged about 40 feet by the train. The accident happened about 3:30 p.m. Trains were rerouted, but most commuters experienced a 10-15 minute delay for the rest of the day. Police are still investigating and ask anyone with information to please contact them.
