Two people were killed and another injured when their car was hit by a Metrolink train in Covina. There have been reports that the crossing gate was not down at the time of the accident. Data from the computer system shows that the arm was down at the time of the accident.

At least one witness to the accident disputed the official account of events.

"I saw the crash happen," said Dale Fessler, a resident of Covina. "The gate wasn't down. The car didn't hit the gate. It went straight through the intersection and hit the train."

Metrolink officials have turned their investigation over to a Covina police accident reconstruction team for further study, Tyrrell said.

The 12-year-old girl that was injured is in stable condition and is expected to recover. Her father and cousin was killed in the accident.
