A 34-year-old woman was killed in a motorcycle accident in Dongola when she was hit by a pickup truck. The victim was the Postmaster for the Dongola Post Office. She was driving her motorcycle on Front Street when she was hit.

She had worked for the U.S. Postal Service for several years, part of the time as a temporary worker, according to Larry Lankheit, manager for post office operation for the Gateway District headquartered in DuQuoin, Ill. Besides the postmaster, the Dongola office has a staff of five, including two substitute carriers.

The accident is being investigated and no charges have been filed yet. The victim is survived by a husband and two sons.
