A Shreveport Police Officer with 8 years on the force was involved in an accident on his police motorcycle. He broke his ribs in the accident and was treated at W-K Pierremont Health Center.

Police escorting a large, cylindrical windmill assembly from Beaird Industries to the Port of Shreveport-Bossier had blocked the intersection of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop and Millicent Way eastbound, police Sgt. Tom Oster said.

Lt. W.E. Scott, driving a marked cruiser, had just moved from blocking the crossing when the pickup ran the intersection, causing the second police motorcycle in the escort, ridden by Cpl. Duane Farquhar, to swerve, police spokeswoman Kacee Hargrave said.

Farquhar's motorcycle skidded into Scott's police car, then hurtled on its side onto the eastbound shoulder of Bert Kouns.

The driver of the pickup saw the story on the news and called police. He was questioned by police. Charges have not been filed in the case.
